Rare Harmful Effects from Benzos training winding down

Hello Fierce Leaders and Change Agents,
As you know, the peer space is constantly evolving. Peers are being relied up for more responsibilities (which is what we asked for) as a result, the need for further education comes alongside this already heavy lift!

For the past two years Choices has been working with the University of Colorado and the Benzodiazepine Action Work Group to create a training designed for peers to garner knowledge about benzodiazepines and the harmful effects some can encounter.

With a focus on Colorado workforce, (because the funding came from Colorado) I am pleased to offer you this

private training for the East Coast peers.

This training is suitable for peers, counselors, and clinicians. Seating is Limited! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

Q: Why should I take a training about Benzodiazepines?
A: From a fellow peer:

March 2024; Kathy Greely, CPRS, Delaware

“I just wanted to touch base. Thank you all for the exceptional training I could have spent another whole day with you just asking questions. You handed me pieces of a puzzle that I have been struggling with as a SUD peer for the last 4 years.” Additionally:

As Peers, one of our roles is to recognize signs and symptoms of other health conditions and refer to additional care.

#2 answer: Benzodiazepines are drugs, and peers support folks with negative consequences associated with drugs.

#3 answer: I would wager that many of the people your teams are working with are taking benzos and have symptoms that present as denial, defiance, or lack of acceptance.

This private virtual training will be held on May 20, 21, and 22, 2024, from 12 to 4:30 p.m. EST. Seating is limited. Sending supervisors would be great. Twelve CEs will be awarded in all four domains
