Course Description: This course is for professional peer recovery workers, case managers, behavioral techs or other in the helping field who wish to expand their knowledge on mental health and wellness to serve better the population they work with by knowing what signs to look for that require a referral to a higher level of care, providing traditional peer support and understand wellness plans and how they differ from recovery plans.

Objectives:

  • Define Mental Health v Mental Illness
  • Identify four signs of mental health diagnoses commonly associated with SUD
  • Identify 2 signs of mental health crisis
  • Implement 2 de-escalation strategies
  • Become familiar with WHAM and WRAP plans
  • Understand the peer recovery support role with comorbidity

DATES: A Peer’s Intro to Mental Health (6 CEs), two options:
1) Tuesdays and Thursdays March 4 & 6, 5:30 – 8:45
2) Saturday Feb. 22, 9 am – 4:30 pm

OTHER 2025 TRAINING DATES TO CONSIDER:

  • Suicide Prevention for Non-Clinical Workers: February 5 and 6 – 2025, 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. EST, 6 CEs (2-Day Training)
  • Ethics Training (12 & 16 CEs – state dependent), two options:
    1) Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 – 8:45 from Feb.11 – Feb. 25
    2) Saturday training (with one weeknight) Feb. 13 5:30-8:45. Feb 15 & 16 9-4:30
  • HIV/AIDS for Recovery Coaches: February 20 – 2025, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. EST, 6 CEs

  • You will receive a manual for the Peer  & Ethics training no less then 1 week prior to the training start date. Be sure to put your mailing address in the fields provided.   • Handouts for all other courses are made available in the DETAILS section of your Protraxx account no less then one week prior to the start date of the course.
