Course Description: This training will address what ethics are and their role in peer recovery support. This training will explore the importance of boundaries and boundary management extensively and the need for continuous monitoring of boundaries. The training will explore adverse outcomes as a result of poor ethical guidelines and boundary management. Additionally, this training will discuss HIPPA and 42CFR part two regarding confidentiality.
Course Objectives:
- Learn what ethics are and why they’re important
- Learn the differences and similarities around a Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
- Identify and discuss potential boundary issues and boundary management in recovery coaching and peer support roles
- Understand confidentiality in peer support roles; HIPAA and 42CFR part 2

To alleviate any future confusion, please be mindful of the dates you have paid for when you enroll in our event management system (EMS) - All virtual training will be conducted via Zoom. Zoom instructions will be sent out via automatic email from Protraxx. Check your Spam account if you do not receive an email a few days before your event. Or, you will find it in the Protraxx account the day before the course.
- COURSE MATERIAL: You will receive a manual for the Peer & Ethics training no less than 1 week before the training start date. Be sure to put your mailing address in the fields provided. If your address changes between now and the date of mailing, please notify us to ensure you receive your manual. Additional charges may result if not notified.
- Handouts for all other courses are made available in the DETAILS section of your Protraxx account no less than one week prior to the start date of the course.
- In the event you need to reschedule after registering for a Choices course, a $20.00 rescheduling fee will be required.
